Malvina N. Skorska, Ph.D.

~CURRENT STUDENTS!~

I am currently working with the following wonderful undergraduate students on Independent Research Projects in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto (St. George campus).

Ida Khanlou

Ida is a 4th year student at the University of Toronto pursuing a double major in Psychology and Human
Biology, with a minor in Immunology. Her research interests include how scientific narratives shape our
understanding of the mind, as well as how biological factors impact behaviour and mental health. In her
individual research project with Dr. Skorska, she explores the role of essentialism in brain research, and how
essentialist perspectives can influence the interpretations of neurological findings.

Yan Castaldo

Yan is a mature psychology student at the University of Toronto. After a career in consulting and CPG marketing, he became fascinated by how people relate to each other as well as themselves, especially from an emotional perspective. In his research project with Dr. Skorska, Yan is investigating how essentialism affects emotions and emotion regulation: does essentialism affect how individuals perceive their own emotions and how they manage them? In his free time, Yan likes to play guitar, write, and explore Toronto. He is presently learning to produce music as well!
